Sacramento, CA – Senator Ling Ling Chang (R-Diamond Bar), Northgate Market, and the City of La Habra teamed up to distribute 10,000 free face masks to frontline grocery workers, seniors, and residents of Senate District 29.

“We are all in this together to support our neighbors, families, and workers in need,” said Senator Ling Ling Chang. “As communities continue to reopen the economy, it is imperative to remember that this health crisis is far from over and now the governor is requiring all Californians to wear face masks when they leave their home.  Partnering with Northgate Market to distribute these free face masks is one way to ensure our residents are following the guidelines and to help ensure the health and safety of our beautiful communities. The demand for personal protective equipment is high, and I’m proud to help our local businesses and community members every step of the way.”

Following physical distancing guidelines and other protocols, Senator Chang and those distributing face masks wore masks and gloves while distributing personal protective equipment to individuals.

“Northgate Gonzalez Market and more than 6,000 of our associates are extremely grateful to California Senator Ling Ling Chang for her donation of 10,000 disposable masks to help protect our frontline grocery workers,” said Oscar Gonzalez, Co-President of Northgate Market. “Our associates have joined America’s grocery store workers who have been on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic, to help keep our nation's 330 million residents alive and fed in an uncertain and frightening time, and her kind gesture to help keep them safe is much appreciated.”

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, Senator Chang has authored legislation to expand paid family leave and hosted multiple food and basic goods distributions. Read more about Senator Chang’s efforts to our communities here.
