Senator Chang Responds to Vote on Flavored Tobacco Ban

Thursday, June 25, 2020

Senator Ling Ling Chang (R-Diamond Bar) made the following statement today following her affirmative vote for SB 793, prohibiting the sale of flavored tobacco products:

“Too many flavored tobacco products are manufactured and advertised directly to minors,” said Senator Chang. “It’s obvious what is happening when tobacco is flavored with bubble gum or cotton candy and we should not tolerate targeting kids with these products. The bill also makes appropriate cultural exemptions including hookah and I appreciate the author working with those communities”

SB 793 (Hill) is supported by the American Lung Association, California Children's Hospital Association, American Heart Association, and California State Parent Teacher Association.
