SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Ling Ling Chang (R-Diamond Bar) issued the following statement after the State Auditor approved an emergency audit of the Employment Development Department (EDD), the state agency responsible for providing unemployment insurance benefits to Californians:

“Every day constituents are desperately reaching out for help with the EDD – my office is helping them obtain missing funds, report fraud, and navigate the agency’s backlog.  This emergency audit will shed much needed light on how to clean up the EDD’s numerous shortcoming. It’s about time. Californians deserve better. ”

An email distributed  by the Joint Legislative Audit Committee today stated,  “Please be advised that the emergency audit request regarding the Employment Development Department is moving forward and has been transmitted to the State Auditor's office.”
