A Message from Ling Ling Chang

Dear Neighbor,

The shelter in place orders have resulted in a dramatic decline in the number of miles driven by Californians and we are seeing fewer car accidents.

As a result, some insurance companies have offered refunds for certain services that cannot be rendered. Below is a list of some of the companies that are offering refunds.

  • AAA: Every policy holder with auto insurance in effect from March 16 to May 15 will receive a 20% policy refund check for this period. The check will be mailed by the end of May and members do not need to take any action.

  • Allstate: 15% refund for April and May premiums.

  • Chubb Auto Insurance: 35% premium reductions for April and May.

  • Farmers Insurance: 25% reduction in April premiums.

  • Geico: 15% credit on policies up for renewal between April 8 and Oct. 7.

  • Liberty Mutual: 15% back on two months of premiums.

  • Progressive: All auto customers receive a 20% credit for April and May.

  • State Farm: 25% credit on premiums paid between March 20 and May 31.

  • USAA: 20% credit for two months of premiums.

The shelter in place order has also closed gyms.  Some of my constituents have wondered if billings will continue – even though the gyms could not provide services. Here is who we’ve heard from so far. If your gym is not listed, you may try contacting them directly.

  • 24 Hour Fitness: Memberships will be extended to cover the time of club closures. They will suspend all membership billings, including billings for any additional services and fees, effective April 16.

  • Equinox: All memberships have been automatically frozen. Scheduled sessions will be refunded, and expiration dates will be extended.

  • LA Fitness: All billings are suspended until one or more clubs in your area reopens.

  • Planet Fitness: All memberships have been frozen and you will not be charged any fees during this time. If you are billed during the closed time, Planet Fitness says it will make an adjustment for the next billing cycle upon reopening.

As always, please do not hesitate to call my office at 714-671-9474 or email Senator.Chang@sen.ca.gov if we may be of assistance.

Food Distribution with La Brea Bakery

Senator Chang and School Bus

Senator Ling Ling Chang

I'm humbled to partner with La Brea Bakery to get food on tables and offer families a hand-up during these tough and challenging economic times. This week, we distributed more than 36,000 rolls and sliders to 30+ organizations, ranging from senior citizen centers, food banks, community resource centers, community colleges, school districts, and churches.

Following the physical distancing guidelines, we rolled up our sleeves and wore masks and gloves to distribute food. If you need assistance with COVID-19 resources, please check out my website or email me at Senator.Chang@sen.ca.gov.
